WORD-LEVEL EDITING

Fix every word, not just the line

Each word keeps its own time from your audio, so you can correct one without touching the rest.

  • Click a word to correct it

Fix a name, a term or a misheard word. Clear a word to hide it.

  • Find & replace everywhere

Leave the replacement empty to remove a word throughout, like every “um”.

  • Tab to the next word

Move through the transcript from the keyboard, and undo any change.

  • Corrections go everywhere

The captioned MP4 and the SRT, VTT and TXT files all include them.

WHAT YOU GET

A subtitle editor for the whole video

Burned-in captions

The video plays with captions anywhere, even where subtitle files aren't supported.

  • The captioned video in its original shape, landscape or vertical
  • Caption styles previewed live over your video

Free plan: the captioned MP4 has a small ClipSnitch watermark. SRT, VTT and TXT files never do.

Subtitle files

Upload SRT or VTT to YouTube or Vimeo so viewers can switch captions on and off.

  • SRT and VTT files that include your corrections
  • Captions come from what is said in your recording; corrections change the text, never the timing.

Captioning uses no extra minutes: only the upload counts against your monthly minutes.

Only need the text?

Transcribe a video or an audio episode and copy the words, or download timestamped text.

Turn it into Shorts later

The same recording can become vertical clips with captions, without using more minutes.

Questions about adding subtitles

How do I add subtitles to a video?

Upload the video or paste a link to a YouTube video you own or have permission to use. ClipSnitch transcribes the speech with a time for every word. Correct any word, choose a caption style, then download the captioned video or SRT and VTT subtitle files.

Can I correct the captions before I download?

Yes. Click any word to change it, or clear it to hide it. Each word keeps its own timing, and every download (the captioned video, SRT, VTT and plain text) includes your corrections.

Which subtitle files can I download?

SRT and VTT, timed from the words themselves, plus plain text. Most video platforms and editors, including YouTube and Vimeo, accept SRT or VTT.

Can I add closed captions to my video?

Yes. Download the SRT or VTT file and add it to your video as a caption track, for example in YouTube Studio under Subtitles. Viewers can then turn the closed captions on or off. If you want captions that are always visible, download the captioned MP4, which has them in the picture.

Do I have to make clips?

No. Captioning works on the whole video. You can still turn the same recording into short clips later without using more minutes.

Does the captioned video have a watermark?

On the Free plan the captioned video carries a small ClipSnitch watermark. Paid plans download it without one. Subtitle files never have a watermark.

What resolution is the captioned video?

It keeps your video's shape, landscape or vertical, at up to 1080p. It is made in the background, so you can leave the page while it renders.

Does captioning use extra minutes?

No. The upload counts its length against your plan's monthly minutes once; correcting captions and making the captioned video add nothing.

Which languages are supported?

The spoken language is detected automatically and the captions are written in that language. Check names and specialist terms before you publish.

Is my video safe?

Your video is processed only to make your captions. We never share or publish it. Unless you save the project to your storage, it is deleted with its project after 3 days on the Free plan, 30 on Creator or 60 on Pro. You can delete it yourself at any time.

Caption your next video

Upload it or paste a link to your YouTube video, fix any word, pick a style and download the captioned video with its subtitle files.
