1. LinkedIn video length
A video can be 3 seconds to 15 minutes long; the mobile app accepts clips from 2 seconds. Short clips suit the feed. For a long talk or webinar, post its strongest few minutes and link to the full recording.
2. LinkedIn video size limit
The file must be between 75 KB and 5 GB. A long, high-bitrate recording can go over: compress it to MP4 first. At 1080p, even a 15-minute video normally fits well under the limit.
3. LinkedIn video aspect ratio
LinkedIn takes anything from 1:2.4 (very tall) to 2.4:1 (very wide). On a phone, square (1:1) and vertical (4:5 or 9:16) videos take up more of the screen than landscape (16:9), which is why many people post vertical clips. Landscape still suits screen recordings and slides.
4. LinkedIn video dimensions and resolution
Resolution can be from 256 × 144 up to 4096 × 2304, at 10 to 60 frames per second. Good choices: 1080 × 1920 for vertical, 1080 × 1350 for 4:5, 1080 × 1080 for square and 1920 × 1080 for landscape.
5. Supported video formats
LinkedIn lists MP4, MOV, AVI, WebM, MKV, WMV, MPEG and a few other formats. MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound is the safest choice and plays the same everywhere.
6. How to post a video on LinkedIn
Start a post, add the video from the media button, write a short description, and add captions: LinkedIn takes an SRT caption file, so people watching without sound can follow. With ClipSnitch on a paid plan, connect your LinkedIn profile and post a clip straight from your workspace, now or at a time you choose.
Common questions
What is the maximum video length on LinkedIn?
15 minutes, according to LinkedIn Help. The minimum is 3 seconds, or 2 seconds in the mobile app.
What is the best video size for LinkedIn?
For people on phones, vertical 1080 × 1920 (9:16) or 1080 × 1350 (4:5). Square 1080 × 1080 is a safe middle ground, and 1920 × 1080 suits slides and screen recordings.
Why won’t my video upload to LinkedIn?
Check that it is between 75 KB and 5 GB, 3 seconds to 15 minutes long, between 1:2.4 and 2.4:1, and 10 to 60 frames per second. If it still fails, convert it to MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound.
Can I add captions to a LinkedIn video?
Yes. Attach an SRT file when you post the video. ClipSnitch’s subtitle editor makes an SRT from your video, timed word by word, or a video with the captions in the picture.
